Rius de Dolor (Rivers of pain) are various projects that took place in the Cap de Creus area, where rubble used to spill onto. Where the Pyrenees meet the sea, the beaches are covered in blackish slate; the rubble mixing with it in splashes of red.
Arranging the ceramic stones in the shape of a river reminds us of blood and the pain the sea must feel when we throw things in it.
The project aims to criticise this, the process of unconscious de-architecturalisation that ignores the consequences of causing harm to the environment.
The ephemeral project merges with its surroundings, becoming part of an element that is already there. The wind, the sea and people strolling on the beach will deconstruct it naturally.
La mar s’ha d’observar, s’ha d’entendre i s’ha de sentir.
Un antagonisme d’essència destructiva front al qual la mar respon amb una bellesa natural.
La mar se’ns obri i ens fa més bonic el camí. Ens l’aplana perquè les nostres petjades sàpiguen arribar a ella, se’ns entrega i ens mulla de vida, ens vist de sensacions que ens estimulen i que ens impulsen a apropar-nos, tot seguint el rastre que deixa l’olor de la seva puresa.
El mantell de flames roges amb què la posta de sol tenyeix la mar es fon amb el vermell de les pedres que delimiten el camí destructor de l’home, i entenem noves formes que se’ns presenten com un riu efímer, un riu que hem de saber recórrer. Altrament, un dia l’agressió serà tan irreversible que els nostres ulls, impotents, ja no podran donar forma i color a allò que veuen i la imaginació serà una mirada al passat, un simple record d’un temps que ja no tornarà, d’una bellesa per sempre eclipsada.
Potser un dia la mar ens farà enyorar allò que hauríem d’haver estimat.
